Bread Pudding
Ingredients
Pudding
- 5 cups of bread
- 2 cups of milk, can substitute a portion with 1/4-1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 eggs
- a pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ground
- 3 cloves, ground
- 4 seeds allspice, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Crumble Topping
- 1/4 flour
- 2 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 of cup butter
Directions
Notes: Try scalding milk next time.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cut the bread in inches squares and toast them for about 4 minutes (not allow them to burn).
- In a separate bowl mix the milk, the eggs, and the spices.
- Prepare crumble topping by mixing sugar and flour, then cutting in butter with fork.
- Soak the bread with egg and milk mixture.
- Spread soaked bread into 9x9 buttered dish and top with crumble topping.
- Cook until center reaches 156°F. ~30-40 minutes.
- Allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.
